WhatsApp launched a payment platform for its users last year. Now the company is making some changes to it. According to a report by WABetaInfo, once this feature is launched, Indian WhatsApp users will be able to make direct UPI payments without any payment request. Users currently using WhatsApp can send money to their friends and contacts through UPI payments. In addition, users can send payment requests to contacts. Instead, the new feature will enable this payment option for any contact.
According to the latest report, the company is now gearing up to offer UPI payment service to all users. So that the dependence of the users on the payment request will be removed. After the release of this feature, users will be able to easily configure UPI payments and will be able to make financial transactions with any contact through WhatsApp after linking the bank account. However, no information has been released about when the company will rollout this feature.
How to start payment feature on Whatsapp?
Step 1 : After starting Whatsapp, click on the 3 dots in the top right corner.
Step 2: When you open Settings, click on Payments option
Step 3: Whatsapp will ask you to link Bank Account.

Step 4: While linking the bank account, Whatsapp will ask you to agree on some terms and conditions. You can click on the I agree button or go to the back menu.
Step 5: After accepting Terms & Conditions, you need to verify your mobile number. From here UPI verification will start.
Step 6: After verifying the mobile number, you will see a list of names of various banks on your mobile screen. From there you have to choose your bank.

Step 8. WhatsApp will ask you for the last six digits on your debit card. Also some other information will be requested (Expiry date on debit card, your date of birth etc.)
Step 9. You can then use the Money Transfer feature on WhatsApp.
How to transfer money from Whatsapp?
- You will be able to transfer or receive money once your bank account details are updated.
- Open the chat of the person you want to send money to in your contact list and go to the payment option.
- Select the bank account from which the money is to be transferred
- Now enter your UPI PIN to complete the transaction by depositing the amount.
- After entering the PIN, your transaction will be successful along with the confirmation message.
