New Delhi: WhatsApp banned more than 20 lakh accounts in India in August. WhatsApp received 420 complaints in August. Indian account is identified by +91 phone number. WhatsApp has revealed in its support page that when it receives user complaints through the complaint channel, the messaging app uses tools and resources to prevent harmful behavior on the platform.
The goal is to keep WhatsApp accounts secure
A WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement that the user-safety report details user complaints and related actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as its own preventive actions by WhatsApp to combat abuse on our platform. Prevent accounts from sending large amounts of harmful messages. We use advanced capabilities to identify these accounts that send unusual messages. “Most of the users we reach out to are banned or have their account restored for product or account support,” the WhatsApp said.
Ban on more than 95 percent of accounts involved in automated or bulk messaging
Earlier, the WhatsApp revealed that it had blocked more than 30 lakh accounts in 36 days. Relevant accounts were banned between June 16 and July 31 to prevent online abuse and keep users safe on the platform. Based on the complaints received, the WhatsApp took action against the accounts that violated the security rules. The WhatsApp records accounts with high or abnormal rates of messages, and bans millions of accounts in India from attempting fraud. In India, more than 95 per cent of accounts involved in automated or bulk messaging have been banned.
The WhatsApp report states, “Accounts used for malicious purposes are searched in three stages. Things that we receive from user reports and appear as blocks during registration, during messages, and in response to negative feedback.
