WhatsApp feature tracker WaBetainfo states that WhatsApp is announcing a new date of June 19 for some users, as users in some regions are able to dismiss alerts with new terms of service. Android and iOS users must accept the terms before the new deadline to use the app without any restrictions.

New terms illegal?

Earlier this month, Germany’s leading data security regulator called WhatsApp’s new terms illegal. The Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Germany has previously stated that Facebook has no legal basis for processing the data of WhatsApp users.

Our new policy is being misinterpreted: WhatsApp

The data security regulator alleges that WhatsApp is forcing people to adopt a new privacy policy, while the company has said it will not delete users’ accounts. WhatsApp said in its defense that the data regulator had misinterpreted the purpose and outcome of WhatsApp’s update.

Users are having problems using the app

In India, meanwhile, some WhatsApp users who do not accept certain terms of service are having difficulty accessing the calling feature. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology last week gave WhatsApp a week to withdraw its new terms. If not, the necessary steps will be taken in accordance with the law, it has been said.

The account will not be deleted

WhatsApp has stated in one of its FAQs that users who do not accept their new privacy policy will not have their account deleted. But such users will have difficulty opening the chat list, receiving calls or making calls. The functionality of the app from these users will be limited.
